Mommy Makeover in Farmington Hills
A mommy makeover combines procedures such as a breast lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction to address changes left by pregnancy and childbirth. Performed by Dr. Michelle Hardaway, a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience.
What a mommy makeover addresses
Pregnancy and childbirth can leave changes that diet and exercise alone do not correct: sagging breasts, stretched abdominal muscles, excess skin and stubborn fat deposits. A mommy makeover is a customized combination of procedures, planned around your specific concerns to create a balanced result.
Procedures that may be included
Most mommy makeovers are built around a tummy tuck and a breast procedure, with other procedures added where they help.
- Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) — repairs abdominal muscles that separated during pregnancy (diastasis recti) and removes skin that stretched beyond its ability to retract. It often improves the appearance of stretch marks on the skin removed below the navel.
- Fleur de lis abdominoplasty — addresses both vertical and horizontal excess skin, for women with significant skin stretching or substantial weight loss after pregnancy.
- Breast augmentation — restores volume lost after pregnancy and breastfeeding, using silicone or saline implants.
- Breast lift with augmentation — addresses both volume loss and sagging.
- Liposuction — removes stubborn fat deposits, and can be paired with a tummy tuck.
Timing and candidacy
A mommy makeover is typically done once you have fully recovered from childbirth and your body has stabilized. The right timing and combination of procedures are decided at consultation, based on your health and circumstances.
The consultation
Dr. Hardaway reviews your goals and medical history and performs a physical exam to assess your skin, muscle tone, fat distribution and any existing scars. Photos may be taken to help with planning. She then recommends a combination of procedures suited to your anatomy, explains each one, and discusses recovery and how to prepare for surgery.
Where surgery is performed
The center’s on-site surgical suite is accredited by Quad A (formerly the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities). It has monitoring systems, emergency protocols and private recovery areas cared for by the nursing team. Dr. Hardaway also holds privileges at local hospitals and recommends the appropriate setting for your plan at consultation.
Recovery
Recovery depends on which procedures are combined, and your plan sets out what to expect. Take prescribed medication, rest as advised, avoid strenuous activity and attend your follow-up appointments.
Risks
All surgery carries risk. Risks of combining procedures include infection, bleeding, scarring and anesthesia complications. Following the post-operative instructions, attending follow-ups and raising any concerns promptly support recovery, and no outcome can be guaranteed.
Cost and financing
Pricing is based on the procedures you choose. As a guide, breast procedures range from $6,600 to $10,500, abdominoplasty from $8,000 to $9,500, and liposuction starts at $5,200, depending on the extent of treatment.
Your quote includes the surgeon, facility, anesthesia, pre-op testing, garments and follow-up care. Combining procedures in one mommy makeover costs less than scheduling them separately, and procedures in the accredited surgical suite tend to cost less than hospital-based options. We do not accept insurance, and financing is available.
