  • PLASTIC SURGERY: An operation that restores or improves the appearance of body structures.
  • PROCEDURES: a particular course of action intended to achieve a result; "the procedure of obtaining a driver's license"; "it was a process of trial and error"
  • NOSE: the organ of smell and entrance to the respiratory tract; the prominent part of the face of man or other mammals; "he has a cold in the nose"
  • ENHANCEMENT: The improvement of an image either through color and/or density change.
  • RHINOPLASTY: is plastic surgery of the nose.
  • INJURY: an accident that results in physical damage or hurt
  • BIRTH: parturition: the process of giving birth
  • DEFECT: an imperfection in a bodily system; "visual defects"; "this device permits detection of defects in the lungs"
  • BREATHING: the bodily process of inhalation and exhalation; the process of taking in oxygen from inhaled air and releasing carbon dioxide by exhalation
  • COMPUTER IMAGING: A field of computer science covering digital images - images that can be stored on a computer, particularly bit-mapped images. Computer imaging is a wide field that includes digital photography, scanning, and composition and manipulation of bit-mapped graphics.
  • SURGERY: the branch of medical science that treats disease or injury by operative procedures
  • PREOPERATIVE:
  • LOCAL: relating to or applicable to or concerned with the administration of a city or town or district rather than a larger area; "local taxes"; "local authorities"
  • GENERAL: applying to all or most members of a category or group
  • ANESTHESIA: The prevention of pain. General anesthesia puts the patient to sleep. Local anesthesia numbs a specific body part. Regional anesthesia, such as spinal anesthesia and epidural anesthesia, numbs the nerves that conduct sensation to a circumscribed body area
  • OUT-PATIENT: A patient who visits a health care facility for diagnosis or treatment without spending the night. Sometimes called a day patient.
  • INCISION: A cut made in the body to perform surgery
  • BONE: rigid connective tissue that makes up the skeleton of vertebrates
  • CARTILAGE: Rubbery, fibrous, dense connective tissue- harder than ligaments, softer than bone. Cartilage usually is found between bones and permits smooth movement of joints. The most frequent and significant cartilage injury associated with athletic is damage to the crescent-shaped cartilage in the knee (meniscus).
  • SPLINT: A rigid support made from metal, plaster or plastic and used to immobilize an injured or inflamed part of the body.
